BUHARI BANS 50 HIGH PROFILE NIGERIANS FROM LEAVING THE COUNTRY
** President Muhammadu Buhari has banned 50 prominent Nigerians suspected of corruption from travelling abroad.
Garba Shehu, presidential spokesman, said the development is part of steps being taken to enforce the executive order 6 recently signed by the president.
He said the Nigerians affected by the executive order have been placed under watch list and are restricted from travelling pending the determination of their cases.

President Donald Trump has vowed ‘severe punishment’ for Saudi Arabia if the kingdom is found to be responsible for a journalist who went missing at its consulate. In a forthcoming interview with 60 Minutes, an excerpt of which was published on Saturday, Trump spoke about the October 2 disappearance of Washington Post contributor Jamal Khashoggi.
Khashoggi, a Saudi citizen and fierce critic of the crown, was last seen entering the Saudi Arabian consulate in Turkey to deal with a paperwork matter.

One of Iran’s top foreign policy officials has called for negotiations with “anti-Trump movements” in the US to dampen the impact of sanctions, local media reported Saturday. “America is not Trump,” said Heshmatollah Falahat-Pisheh, a conservative lawmaker who heads parliament’s influential national security and foreign policy commission, according to reformist newspaper Arman it is fitting that Iran follows negotiation diplomacy and lobbying anti-Trump movements in America,” he added.
3. STATE GOVERNMENT:
Bisi Fayemi, wife of Ekiti governor-elect, Kayode Fayemi, on Saturday led members of the transition committee to visit the outgoing governor, Ayodele Fayose. Fayemi’s wife and other members of the committee were at the Ekiti government house to meet Fayose ahead of the handing over ceremony. After the meeting, the governor took them around the government house and showed them some of his achievements in the last four years. Fayose is billed to handover to Fayemi on Tuesday, October 16.

PDP’s Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, the Archbishop of Canterbury, His Grace Justin Welby and the UK High Commissioner had a private meeting today. The meeting was held at the UK Embassy in Abuja, and it is a known fact that the Archbishop of Canterbury has been a close friend of Nigerian leaders over the years. 5. ATIKU VISA SAGA::
Olusegun Obasanjo has dismissed an allegation by Nigeria’s ruling APC that he had been mounting pressure on American authorities to expunge an alleged corruption case against Atiku Abubakar. The APC said Mr Abubakar is wanted in the United States for fraud, claiming Mr Obasanjo was scheming to have the alleged charges dropped in order to clear the path for Mr Abubakar’s entry into that country. Mr Abubakar has not been able to enter the U.S. since at least 2007 when he completed his two-term as vice-president,
Facts have emerged why the PDP governors and leaders in the Southeast are kicking against the choice of Mr Peter Obi as the party’s vice presidential candidate. The Atiku action has torn the South East chapter of the party apart.
According to an impeccable party source who pleaded anonymity, the governors and some of the leaders of the party in the zone have accused Atiku of reneging on his earlier promise and vowed to work against his candidacy. Meeting of governors and leaders of PDP.in South East zone of the country ended without any resolution regarding the nomination of Peter Obi, by the presidential candidate of the party, Atiku Abubakar, as his running mate. The govs including, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, David Umahi and Okezie Ikpeazu of Enugu, Ebonyi and Abia respectively, met with National Assembly members and other party leaders at the residence of Ike Ekweremadu in Enugu for more than one hour and ended up not rejecting or accepting Obi’s nomination.
8. NIGERIAN POLICE:
Kogi State Police Command has confirmed that it sent a detachment of officers to the house of Sen. Dino Melaye at Aiyetoro-Gbede in Kogi State on Oct. 11 to effect his arrest. In a statement in Lokoja, the command said it took the action in connection with the July 19 shooting of one of its operatives, Sgt. Danjuma Salihu by thugs suspected to be loyal to the senator. The statement said that the clarification followed the allegation Melaye on his twitter page of Oct. 12 that the ADC to Gov. Yahaya Bello led some officers to his house to assassinate him.
