A family in Kogi state is now grieving over the death of their 18-year-old child Raphael who they said died because of carelessness from doctors

Facebook user, Lawal James, who shared the story on the web, said Raphael had complained of stomach hurt and was taken to the Federal Medical Center in Lokoja where he was diagnosed to have Acute Appendicitis and required immediate operation. James said the doctors, the vast majority of them exceptionally young, abandoned Raphael and were busy pressing their phones while he was dying of pain. He passed on Thursday and would be buried on Monday June fifteenth.

We never knew it will prompt death. He griped of stomach pain on Monday eighteenth June 2018. The pain was so severe to the point that he was taken to MRS in Chari Maigumeri military barracks Lokoja where he was referred to FMC Lokoja. From Federal Medical Center, late Raphael James was referred to Honey Gold Clinic for scan. The scaning was done and the outcome shows that he has Appendicitis(Appendix) which should and must be operated that hour. The doctors confided in Raphael s Brother on the phone that there ought to be no further delay. On returning to FMC Lokoja, the result was shown to the doctors yet late Raphael was left by the inexperienced and lazy Doctors to persistently cry in pain. I ponder where FMC got these young ladies and young men called Doctors.

As I stand and watched Raphael rolling on a thin mattress in pain and these alleged Doctors walked carelessly pressing their telephones with so much careless abandon, leaving the patient whose scan result indicates urgent, tears swell on my eyes. They came discontinuously to attend him and continue squeezing the region he feels pain more asking him how he feels notwithstanding clearly the 18 years boy was in pain. I was angry and nearly called for help yet that could add to Raphael s problems seeing how these youthful but inexperienced Doctors behave, so I stepped aside. All that they requested was given, yet they postponed the task to Tuesday at twelve. As around then it appears to be too late as late Raphael was wheeled from the auditorium to Intensive Care Unit and on the Night of Thursday, he surrendered the apparition.

Raphael is gone and he is gone to meet his maker. Be that as it may, the inquiry is this, where are those experience Medical Doctors in Federal Medical Center lokoja that the life of innocent individuals are left in the hands of these very ineperienced, rich and insane Doctors?

On that night, the vast majority of the Doctors on duty are not up to 28 years old and non of them can claim to have graduated 5 years back. This isn’t to state there are no caring and intelligent ones among them however it was a terrible night that Raphael met these crop of Doctors.

These youthful Doctors ought to be attached to experienced consultants or Doctors who has been practicing for more than 20 years to learn more before being permitted to deal with patients.

At times, when they are faced with major issues, you see them browsing their telephones to get information. This is not supposed to be. Something urgent ought to be done. It is Raphael today, who knows who next? It’s difficult to see a young man who simply completed WAEC to have passed on while awaiting result. In addition, where is morals in field of medicine? Is there any whatsoever? if there s any then its not been applied this young and inexperienced doctors. A quick overhaul is required. The agony of loosing somebody to death because of carelessness is extreme. James Raphael will be buried on Monday. As a man server in Catholic Church Chari Maigumeri, there will be a Mass wake keep on Sunday at his residence , Otokiti community Lokoja. He will be laid to rest on Monday 25th June 2018. Until his demise, he graduated from Army day Secondary school Chari Maigumeri barrack Lokoja. He is a committed Christian of the Catholic Church. May the spirit of James Raphael and other devoted faithful rest in peace
