The Command of the Nigeria Customs in Kogi,Niger and Kwara has caught an Onitsha bound truck heap of 200,000 live ammo being brought into the nation from Benin Republic.
The Nation reports that two suspect who were distinguished as the driver, Bukari Dauda and the owner of the cartridges, Martin Anokwara, were arrested along the Wawa – Babana outskirt in Niger state in an Iveco Truck with Lagos registration number AKD 904 XE
Strutting the suspects, the Command Controller, Comptroller Benjamin Binga said that his men captured the truck which entered the nation through the Babana fringe at around 3 a.m on Monday morning. He said that the truck was masked to be carrying 100 void gericans yet on exhaustive checking, it was found that the truck had a false base which was utilized to conceal the cartridges.
“The checking was not from tip off, it was simply out of sheer interest that my men chose to complete an exhaustive checking and found that not at all like different bottoms of trucks, this one had nuts and on evacuating the nuts, they found it was a false base which uncovered the cartridges. The cartridges are numbering thousands, it would take us hours to check it. We are currently attempting to build up what the cartridges are truly meant for and who sent them to carry it into the nation” he said
Custom officers catches truckload of 200,000 live ammo in Niger When cross examined, the driver of the truck, Bukari Dauda said he is from Cotonu in Benin Republic and he was utilized by Anokwara to drive the truck for him to Onitsha. He denied having information about the things in the truck.
On his part, the owner of the cartridges, Anokwara said he supplies hunters and authorized owners of double barrel firearms in Anambra.
The Customs supervisor said that the suspects would be charged to court after examinations have been finished up.
