DAVIDO REACTS TO ALLEGED BREAK UP WITH CHIOMA

*. The ruling APC has alleged that Olusegun Obasanjo has made moves to secure entry visa to the US for PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar. The Senate majority leader, Ahmed Lawan, yesterday gave reasons why the All Progressives Congress (APC) senators backed down on their threat to impeach Senate President Bukola Saraki. Lawan spoke yesterday to State House correspondents after a closed-door meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the presidential villa, Abuja. According to him, the senators shelved their planned action against Saraki’s leadership because of the need to promote national interest above personal or parochial interests
4. FEDERAL GOVERNMENT:
PREMIUM TIMES on Friday defended its reporting and findings in an investigative fact-check that exposed the Minister of State for Petroleum, Ibe Kachikwu, for lying that he got a First Class degree in Law from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN). Mr. Kachikwu had clearly made the false claim at a COZA church event recorded on video. He also peddled the claim on his official bio posted to the website of the Ministry of Petroleum Resources. Even on his official CV, which he submitted to the presidency and the Senate, the minister also claimed he got a distinction from UNN.
5. STATE GOVERNMENT:
Gov. Ayo Fayose Friday evening handed over the instruments of office to the Head of Service, Dr. Gbenga Faseluka. He surrendered the handover note to Faseluka at a special valedictory State Executive Council meeting at the new Governor’s Office in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital. Fayose said history would be kind to him the way he managed the resources in trust for the people of the Fountain of Knowledge. That would be the last time he would preside over the cabinet meeting in his capacity as the state chief executive.
