Plateau state former Governor , Joshua Dariye, today begged Justice Adebukola Banjoko to temper equity with kindness as she gave him a 14-year imprison term for occupying N1.1 billion from the state when he was governor
Counsel to Dariye, Paul Eroko, argued for the court to temper equity with leniency as he was deceived by a few people.
“Offers to your judgment don’t succeed, we will fall on your kindness. The prison facilities are congested. They deluded the senator, it is the bank, they said he didn’t need to display anything.” he said
Guidance to EFCC, Rotimi Jacobs, said Dariye did not merit a light sentence since he “didn’t indicate regret” and that a solid sentence would fill in as a prevention to those holding public offices
“He isn’t repentant, his case should fill in as a discouragement,” Jacobs said.
Now, Dariye said he needed to talk.
“Show kindness, you are a Christian, your name is Jacob,” he said.
Equity Banjoko a short time later condemned him to 14 years in prison without an alternative of fine. Dariye cried as she conveyed her judgment.
